Annual Consultation on Freight Volume Targets for OSJD Member Countries for 2026 Underway

The official consultation meeting to coordinate and finalize railway freight volumes for 2026 among member countries of the Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD) Freight Traffic Commission has commenced in Sochi, Russian Federation.

The Mongolian Railway Company is being represented at this high-level gathering by Chief Engineer B. Davaasuren and the Head of the Transport Management Department, G. Shijirbaatar.

Meeting Objectives and Scope

This annual consultation serves as a critical platform for member nations to:

  • Coordinate Freight Volumes: Negotiate and agree upon reciprocal targets for foreign trade cargo, including exports, imports, and transit shipments for the upcoming year.
  • Enhance Operational Efficiency: Discuss and define strategic measures to organize transportation more effectively across borders.

Participating Delegations

The meeting brings together representatives from 11 member countries' railway organizations, including:

  • Mongolia, Russia, China, Afghanistan, Belarus, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, North Korea, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.
  • Additionally, representatives from South Korea (as an observer), along with various international trade and freight forwarding companies, are in attendance.

Strategic Importance

These consultations play a vital role in increasing foreign trade freight volumes and improving the overall efficiency of regional transport networks. For Mongolia, this event contributes significantly to national economic growth and strengthens regional trade and economic cooperation.

The consultation is scheduled to continue through March 14, 2026.
