Under the "Concept of Regional Development" approved by Annex 1 of Resolution No. 64 of the State Great Khural (2024), the Gobi region is designated to become a specialized industrial and green energy sub-zone. Specifically, Clause 3.6.37 of this document outlines the goal of constructing a railway from the Tavantolgoi deposit in Tsogttsetsii soum, Umnugovi aimag, to Dalanzadgad city.

In alignment with this objective, O. Batchuluun, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mongolian Railway Company, and N. Enkhbat, the Governor of Umnugovi aimag, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
