International Seminar on “Strengthening Railway Connectivity in East Asia”

On this day, "Mongolian Railway" SOSC and the Korea Transport Institute Consortium have successfully organized the International seminar on "Strengthening Railway Connectivity in East Asia” in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The seminar was full of professional participants of the railway industry with more than 70 engineers, experts, and scientists. From Mongolian side, The State Secretary of the Ministry of Road and Transport Development Mr. S. Batbold, the Chief Executive Director of "Mongolian Railways" SOSC Mr. P. Gankhuu, from Korean side the President of KOTI Mr. Oh Jay Hek and the distinguished representatives of Yooshin Engineering Corporation, KORAIL, and KIGAM, and presenters from Russia and China were present. “Memorandum of Understanding” among the Ministry of Finance of Mongolia, the Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of the Republic of Korea was signed in 2022. The purpose of the MOU is to outline cooperation between the Participants with respect to the implementation and management of the project titled “Mongolia’s Railway Development Strategy in connection with the Establishment of the East Asia Railway Community” to 1) conduct feasibility studies for the selected railway routes, 2) deliver a financial model and management scheme for railway construction projects, and 3) elaborate logistics development strategy and policy in Mongolia. At the international seminar on "Strengthening Railway Connectivity in East Asia”, the participants highlighted many topics on "Railway Transportation for Economic Development of Mongolia: Opportunities and Challenges”, and “Strategies for Strengthening Railway Connectivity in perspective of China and Russia”.
